A few days back I was tagged by Melanie Noel Bernard for the 7/7/7 Challenge. I’ve actually had the pleasure of participating in this challenge a few times now, but usually on the Facebook page instead of the blog.
This time, it will be fun to answer and pass along this challenge here, instead! (Not to mention, this is a brand-new excerpt never before shared! Woot!)
What is the 7/7/7 challenge?
The rules are the following:
❄Go to page 7 of your work-in-progress
❄Scroll down to line #7
❄Share the next 7 lines of your manuscript in a blog post
❄Tag 7 other writers (with blogs) to continue the challenge.
What is this WIP I will be sharing?
This snippet is from my next upcoming book to be self-published, entitled “The Transference”. “The Transference” is the first chapter in my science fiction thriller novella called “Blackmarket Body”, which I will be serializing over the course of 2016. I have the FANTASTIC cover for this one done and ready to go, and will be revealing it to my mailing list TODAY!! I’m so excited!!
I do not have the back cover copy finalized yet, but I do have this very general synopsis to offer for now:
“The Transference” is about Richard, an aging well-to-do gentleman who visits Leavenworth Penitentiary for his First Transference — to receive a new, younger body so that he may continue living as he wishes. After all, the consciousness he’ll be replacing is only that of a dangerous criminal. No one will mourn such a loss … except, of course, maybe the criminal, himself …
And here is the snippet:
Dimitrii pushed a tumbler of whiskey into his hand, distracting him from worrisome thoughts. “The bloody doctors, the loony counselors.” The man went back to his recliner, swirling his drink before taking a sip. “See, the problem is nobody remembers what happens during a Transference once they wake up on the other side.”
Richard shook his head. “That’s not true. Dr. Rocha said –”
“Dr. Rocha.” Dimitrii chuckled and sipped again. “Yes, well. She lied. Or mostly lied. It is true the more you Transfer the more you remember, but it’s only in bits and pieces like déjà vu, and only in your dreams. Such memories can’t be relied on for hard truth, much less the foundation of an entire pre-Transfer education, but that’s what they do, isn’t it?”
Nominees:
Sarah Bredeman / A Girl Who Writes
Kristin Helling / Ordinary Writer
Dayton Ward (if you can! 😉 )
Natalie K. (hope you haven’t been tagged yet!)

Oo! This sounds quite interesting! ^.^ I like the concept! More importantly, I like the scientific details you give. It makes it so much more fascinating!
