This post took me longer than usual to write because... honestly I couldn't seem to wrap my head around what I accomplished in February. Lately, it just kind of feels like my brain has fallen right out of my head. But alas. I can wait no longer to make this post. February and March are already running together. :P So here we are. I shall try my best to make this make some semblance of sense. But no promises. It might be rambling and nonsensical... Challenges Covid. Obviously. ... View Post
January 2021 Writing Wrap-Up
Here we are... already one month done into 2021! Yowzers! And so, as promised, here I am again to document my challenges and wins as an author over the last month! THE CHALLENGES Well, let's face it. The biggest challenge remains the fact that myself, my hubby, and my son are all home with each other 24/7 these days. The hubby and I are both working 100% from home since covid began (thank goodness we have that ability though!) and we made the choice to have our son do 100% virtual ... View Post
December Writing Wrap-Up
One of my goals for 2021 is to get better about documenting my past accomplishments and successes, as I am historically AWFUL about doing so. This really hit home when I was taking a look back at 2020 in order to align my publishing goals for 2021. I was in a planning workshop for authors, and in this workshop, they asked how many books we'd sold in 2020, and how much revenue we'd made from those books. And I realized... I HAD NO IDEA. I published my first book in 2015. And yet I have ... View Post
Beneath the Christmas Star: a Lucky Logan prequel flash fiction
(Timeline: This story takes place after the prequel LUCKY LOGAN, but long before the events of BARGAIN AT BRAVEBANK.) He wanted it more than anything he’d ever wanted in his life. The realization struck Logan Delano just as he’d finished shuttin’ up the barn for the night, and he’d turned around back toward the house, boots crunchin’ in the snow, shoulders hunched against the bitter cold, and he’d suddenly caught sight of the Christmas Star. It shone clear and bright in the black of ... View Post

Sometimes I forget things while writing a novel… and then I just roll with it.
Something I've been having a lot of fun with while sticking to the Writing Into the Dark process is the unpredictability of a novel's events. Even as the author... most times, I haven't a clue what's going to happen next. Sometimes that really freaks me out, yes. But as long as I stay in the characters' heads, as long as I can still feel/hear/see them... I just wait and watch. I let them figure it out. Then I write down whatever it is they happen to do. And frankly, so often I'm so ... View Post
