Writing Prompt Wednesday: My second foray into Found Poetry…

Comment: I got a little blackout-happy on this one and accidentally blacked out two words I had meant to keep, so I wrote them back in between the lines. Whoops! Again, I found this very fun. Really enjoying this little process!   Continuum of Youth   The text reads: To create understanding, I asked the usual. Beyond this regard, I imagined inspiration or leftover odds, disparate parts, in my perspective- my friend, waking life... everyday summer not required. Closer to the ... View Post

How to Manage the Research Notebook from Hell: Part One of the RT Booklover's Convention Series

As some of you likely remember, I attended the RT Booklover's Convention last weekend, and to my great fortune made it to five panels, whilst also sending my undercover spy (aka my mother, lol) to a sixth. *NOTE: This post contains one minor expletitive, because it was important!* The first panel I attended was: The Research Notebook from Hell - Keeping Your Series OrganizedHow do you organize a multibook series, especially when you’re dealing  with the complicated worlds of urban fantasy, ... Writing Prompt Wednesday: A Venture into "Found Poetry"

Perhaps to my embarassment, I just recently discovered the awesomeness of "found poetry".  For those of you who still may not know about it, I offer this definition from Wikipedia: Found poetry is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them as poetry by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning. The resulting poem can be defined as either treated: changed in a profound ... View Post

Project List for May 2013

I love May.  May is my favorite month.  It brings back so many wonderful memories, going back to all the school years that ended in May, and all the summers that began in May.  Not only this, but for those of you who may not know, I met my husband in May.  May 1999, in line for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.  Yup, that's right.  He lined up for five days at the theater and I lined up for three (would have been five, but I had to finish making my Queen Amidala's red throne room dress first!)... ... The RT Booklover's Convention Experience! Yowza!

A little background for you: Tuesday, April 30th, 4:45pm... I very abruptly discovered a writing/reading convention was taking place in Kansas City, MO - a 40 minute drive from my house.  It had already started, in fact, because it was the totally awesomesauce RT Booklover's Convention, which I had never heard of until that very moment.  I could probably blame my ignorance on two things, 1) I am not a romance genre follower (but might be now!) and 2) I have been very behind on the world of ... Bait, Fish, and Reel Report for April 2013

Someone once said that to be a successful and productive writer, one had to do the equivalent of "cutting bait, fishing, and reeling 'em in, all at the same time"! This translates to writing as working on projects-in-progress while at the same time submitting completed projects to potential markets and also continuing to cultivate new ideas for future projects. In case you missed my previous post on this subject, at the end of every month I compile a list of what I accomplished as far as ... View Post
