(I can no longer use the word “Project(s)” alongside “2025” or I will go into a rage as well as vomit… and so, “creative endeavors” it is…)
Unsubscribing from sticking the “business mindset” onto my writing doesn’t mean I’m no longer going to write, publish, or sell my books, mind you.
On the contrary… I will continue to value quality over quantity, hire top-notch human formatters and cover artists, and have my books online and at events for others to buy! 🙂
I’m just stepping off the Hamster Wheel, jumping out of the Infinite Loop, and leaving Hustle Culture in the dust.
But everything else will continue along as it has been… only more casually and more enjoyably than before, hooray! That being said, here is what’s on the calendar for the remainder of 2025 (and HOLY CRAP how is it already almost halfway over!?!?)…
THE MOVIE. Yes! If you haven’t yet heard, we are indeed making a movie. A short film. Based on Bargain at Bravebank, book 1 of The Legacy of Lucky Logan series. We funded the film in summer of 2024 and have been working on getting it rolling ever since. While it’s been going more slowly than I’d prefer (it’s much like herding cats, really)… we ARE steadily making progress, and once things hit the fan, it’ll get crazy… so I’m trying not to be TOO impatient, heh. Angel of Amnesty, Book 5 of The Legacy of Lucky Logan series has officially been started! It has been FAR too long since I wrote any new words on this series (a function of that burn out I mentioned in my last post)… but now that I’m coming out of the fog and have made some decisions on how I want to proceed in my author life and author career, the desire to dive back into that world has come back very strongly! It is still pretty slow-going, but that’s also okay in my New Author Life… I am no longer going to let the writing take over my entire life to the detriment of everything else. 😛 (My anxiety hasn’t yet gotten the memo… but I’m working on it!) The first few chapters have also been very difficult to write for a number of factors I may detail in another post… but it mostly boils down to the fact there is a VERY LOADED reunion happening right now (IYKYK), and it’s been tricky to balance everything for the characters without everyone (myself included) getting overwhelmed, whew! We are getting through it though, one page at a time, and I can’t wait to make more progress on this draft so I can start sharing the chapters over on Ream! Yes… I will be posting chapters there weekly starting later this summer… so if you want a first look at this book before it’s officially published, that’s the place to be! (I was originally hoping to publish this book by the end of 2025, but that’s looking a little unrealistic at this point. However, we shall see. You never know!)
Omnibus: Yep! Because the first two items on this list aren’t enough, apparently, I’ve also decided to create an omnibus for books 1-3 of The Legacy of Lucky Logan series. I’ve actually been wanting to do this for a long time now… ever since I finished and published book 3, actually… but finding the time to do it has been tricky. It’s still tricky, honestly, but myself and my fellow Wordwraiths have been doing more in-person events lately, and not only do readers still love paperbacks (anyone who tells you differently is lying–or selling something), but they really love a big ol’ chunky omnibus! And so do ebook and audiobook lovers, actually. And I was recently accepted as 1 of 62 authors vending at the upcoming Boozy Book Fair in Kansas City… so I thought, what better time to get that omnibus underway??? My goal is to have it ready for a debut at this book fair, so wish me luck! This omnibus will be getting a brand new cover by none other than J. Caleb Design, and I’m soooooo excited, because I’ve been wanting a cover from Jake for YEARS. The omnibus will also feature new hand-drawn chapter title graphics by the talented, real-human artist Taylor Park! And maybe some other surprises, too, but you’ll just have to wait and see…. 🙂 But also yes… there will be an ebook version of the omnibus, as well as an audiobook omnibus, both of which will feature the new cover art! Stay tuned for more reveals as I have them!
Blind Date With a Book: These were VERY popular at Planet Comic Con, and I had sooooo much fun making them, I’m going to continue making them! I’ll have a fresh batch ready for Boozy Book Fair, but will also eventually have them available to order any time you want one! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, just Google “blind date with a book” and you’ll see. They’re a lot of fun!
Reader Boxes: These are a brand new thing I’m creating, and will also debut at Boozy. More details will be revealed later, probably on my Instagram first.
And there were a few other things I was going to cover here, namely, the two book series (serieses? seriesi? seriesessses???) I’ve been plotting and world-building in the background for the last few years, and the tv shows and videogames I’m currently obsessed with (yes, those actually relate heavily to my current projects, heh)… but I think those would belong better in their own post. Hopefully I’ll actually get around to making that post someday…
For now though, I think this is quite enough, whew!
I am definitely excited about all of these things, though, so I’m off to go put in more work! Till next time…
