I spent yesterday running around with my friend Andrea looking at wedding dresses for her. It was really fun, but I didn't get to write any. So today I made myself sit down and get some more of Cheetah on the Roof (CotR) into the computer:
Starting word count: 8,724
Ending word count: 10,148
A little snippet:
“Situation?” Claire repeated, gazing up at the cat and feeling hazy, as if she might faint. She took a few deep breaths of the cold night air to try and steady herself, her mind still futilely attempting to piece everything together in a logical progression. She just kept getting stuck on the fact a talking cheetah claimed to know her grandmother. I must be dreaming, she thought absently. This must be one of those weird dreams when you know you’re dreaming but still don’t wake up… On impulse she reached out and touched the cheetah’s chest. The fur was wirier than she had expected, but it sure felt real.
How the hell I used to sit at the computer for hours and put my handwritten stories into the computer when I was a teenager I have no idea. Apparently around 2k words is about all I can handle at a time these days. 😛 Whew. I'm trying to decide if I should continue it in the notebook or just move it to being an all-computer story. I usually don't do as well on the original stories on the computer, but I have written a few scenes for CotR already just on the computer, so it might be okay for that one. Then again, the notebook is actually easier to transport than the laptop, so maybe I should leave it in the notebook for now. Hrm… will have to think on that more.
Secondly, I've also made more progress on Lady in Black (LIB). That one is also in a notebook, which worked out very well, as I brought it along with me last Monday when we were waiting on getting the oil changed in our car, and then again when Jason was getting his MRI… we ended up waiting for a little over an hour, and then his MRI took another half hour, so I got another several pages handwritten. I think I'm going to start also typing that one up soon just to see how many words it is so far. Alot of times I want to write that one more than CotR because it's a much more action-packed adventure (at least at the beginning) than CotR, and I'm a sucker for action. Plus I love to mess with people, and LIB definitely covers that aspect. 😛
I finally bought a moleskine notebook to jot down ideas and I'm lovin' it so far. I still don't necessarily have it with me every time I get an idea, but I have a Notes feature on my cell phone, which IS with me all the time, so I usually put the ideas there, then later transfer them to the moleskine. So it works. At least everything can go to the same place now finally!
I think that's everything for now…
