First of all, I actually managed to accomplish everything on my Project List for January! I have to admit I’m feeling very proud of myself, especially for waking up consistently at 5am on 4 out of 7 days of the week to write. Now that I’ve realized how amazing that can be for forward-progress and the good of my psyche, I’m going to continue for sure! After finishing the rough draft of my 143+k word novel last month, I had originally planned to take February off to relax, get in some video gaming, and deep clean the house. BUT, after the high of writing THE END on an original work for the first time in a very long time, and after taking a vacation last weekend to attend the Harry Potter Celebration in Universal Studios, Orlando (Florida), I am VERY motivated, inspired, and want to keep the momentum going!
So for February, here is what I’m aiming to accomplish:
Compile master draft of Primus rough draft, upload to Lulu and order a print copy for 1st read through editing use. (Completed! Received in the mail on 2/19/2015!)Submit short story to SFWA market.(“Gray” submitted to Intergalactic Medicine Show 2.11.15)Finish rough draft of novella, or at least get very close to completing the rough draft, completed wordcount 20,000 words minimum (and think of a name for the dang thing!)…(Well, not exactly done. I wrote 8600 words of the super secret novella instead. I did, however, think of a name for the other one: The MisAdventures of Zachary Crowne. So I reached 43% of the goal for the wrong novella, hah.)- Continue work on plotting super secret novella and middle and end of NA fantasy novel Cheetah on the Roof. (Not so much. I looked over CotR briefly and realized it needs a lot more work than I remembered…:P)
Continue writing/completing this list 5am – 7am Monday through Thursday.(About 50% in February. Mostly due to being sick for a week and a half. Boo.)
I will probably be participating in #FebWritingChallenge as well, (EDIT: I did not participate in this, sadly.) which is a Twitter group with the common goal of writing 500 words every day in February. I probably won’t hit the every day goal, but I did participate in the last two weeks of #JanWritingChallenge and found the group there very active, encouraging, and awesome. They were just what I needed to power me through the end of my novel, and made it so I didn’t have to spam my writing group with miniscule updates every day, which I’m sure was appreciated, lol. If you think you might be interested in playing along with the challenge this month, you can check out what they’re all about at www.writingchallenge.org. Hope to see you on Twitterverse, and happy writing! 🙂 That’s it! Here we gooooo!
