Behind on posting this month, for two reasons. 1) I’ve entered a writing contest which consumes every free moment, details on the list below and 2) We lost our kitty of ten years very unexpectedly last Sunday, so I am still reeling from that. There’s a post dedicated to her in me somewhere, but I haven’t managed to dig it out yet. In the meantime, I’m going to stick to the cut and dry bulleted list, and will resume normal posting next month, or whenever I get my brain back together… whichever comes first. :s
This July, I will….
- Finish rough draft of the Quirk Books Looking For Love Fiction Contest entry (submission deadline October 1st) in six weeks, with official start date being July 1st (to take advantage of Camp NaNo – will attempt 50k in 30 days, but my own personal deadline is six weeks). As such, this To-Do item will stretch into August. Also, I foresee it being longer than 50k… ack. (About 25k words written in July… half of my goal. Not going to beat myself up over this due to the kitty passing and then launching into an epic vacation the first week of August. But, I do have a lot of slack to pick up before October now! 8.12.13)
- Determine a regular posting schedule other than just the Writing Prompt Wednesdays – look into the Editorial Calendar as suggested by agirlwhowrites. (Didn’t even touch this one. 😛 Silly me for thinking I could do anything else while attempting 50k words in 30 days… lesson learned! 8.12.13)
Get back to posting every Wednesday for the weekly prompts!!! (My apologies, I have been very terrible at that lately!)(Whew! Finally one that I (sort of) accomplished! Messily and sometimes late, but done. 8.12.13)JUST SAY NO to distractions! And to new editing jobs. Until the rough draft is finished! Heh.(This one is a solid DONE! Whohoo! 8.12.13)Query Witness Magazine after July 29th if still no response to submission! *flail*(Totally forgot to do this! Whoops! However, they sent an email on 8.9.13 informing those who still had pending submissions that they were just running behind. Since I have communication from them, I’m crossing this one off! 8.12.13)
And that is all. My kitty’s passing has put a huge damper on my enthusiasm for the contest story, but I’m hoping to pull out of this slump with renewed fervor to finish the thing. And then I’m going to write my kitty’s story, because she may have looked like a fat lazy cat with an attitude, but she was secretly a ninja. 😉

I know I posted this on FB, but I want to extend my condolences. It’s so hard to have a pet pass away. 🙁 I hope things look up for you and your family!
