::SONG:: by Lossefalme

*** While talking to a friend on MSN last night, she changed her name to “Mary Jane” because she was listening to a song by Alanis Morissette entitled “Mary Jane”. Being that it was rather late and I tend to get creatively delirious at those times, I came up with this song at the spur of the moment. I have a tune for it, amazingly, but I can’t sing or write music, so I will probably let my little sister Molly look at it, since she CAN sing. 🙂 Written 8.27.04.***

“Mary Jane”

Mary Jane
Walks along the beach at night
Thinking hard in the shadow of the moonlight
Listening to the waves on the shore
Thinkin’ no more no more…

She had a man but he walked long ago
And she had a love but he left so long ago
And she had a dream but somehow it died
Somehow it died in the shadow of a brick wall

The brick wall of that little lonely apartment
Where she grew up so alone
But somehow she held on tight
And she made it through all those scary nights
Mary Jane

She’s still holding on
But what for?
She still goes walking on
But where to?
She still tries so hard
And someday, one day,
She knows she’ll break though.

Into the sunlight, the moonlight
The light of a new day
Mary Jane
Will step out
Through that doorway
And look back no more no more…

Mary Jane
Walks along the beach at night
Thinking hard in the shadow of the moonlight
Listening to the waves on the shore
Thinkin’ no more no more…

No more cryin’
No more denyin’
She’s got a life to live for
And what’s life for but to live for
She has a hope and it won’t die
She has a faith and it won’t lie down
She’s gonna go and get outta this town
For good

Mary Jane
Walks along the beach at night
Thinking hard in the shadow of the moonlight
Listening to the waves on the shore
Sayin’ I’m free I’m free I’m free.
