Camp NaNoWriMo Diaries: Days Nine to Fifteen – Editing Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Dear Diary, I apologize for spilling that gin and tonic ... errr ... glass of Kool-Aid on you the other day.  I'm glad you are now dry enough to write in so that I can chronicle the most recent events of this year's July Camp! It has truly been a great Camp so far!  I'm happy to report that I, as well as the rest of my bunk mates, have largely stayed on track for the entirety of these past two weeks! There have been bad days, of course, but there have also been great days! In the past seven ... View Post

Camp NaNoWriMo Diaries: Day Seven – Saved By The Cabin-Mates!

Dear Diary, Yesterday was Day Seven of Camp. And things got a little hairy. The day job duties piled up while the work phone rang off the hook, house-sitting tasks had to be done, extra errands ran, the hound dog wandered off for 24 hours and the sister's toy Pomeranian, which I'm also dog-sitting for the next two weeks, vanished from the yard. Travel plans for this weekend's journey to Nebraska for a wedding still had to be made.  There was certainly no time for lunch, much less for working ... View Post

Writing Prompt Wednesday: A snippet from Chapter 20 of "The Good Thing", the WIP novel.

So I worked on the novel seriously today for the first time since about the end of February. Wrote about 1100 words in one sitting. I think that's the most I've written at once since the end of NaNoWriMo in November! Yikes. But to celebrate, I present to you a piece of Chapter 20, a chapter I've been working on since the end of February as well, and have FINALLY, finally finished! HOORAY! As usual, please keep in mind this is unedited, and names of organizations are merely placeholders and ... View Post

Writing Prompt Wednesday: "Almost", an original winter haiku.

End of winter blues Too soon? Cloudy skies again The birds sing: almost! *** I've always wanted to delve into haikus myself, and finally decided to start today! Yes, this is my very first, ever, original haiku. I think there will be many more to come! - JRF ... View Post

Writing Prompt Wednesday: An excerpt from Chapter 20 of "The Good Thing", the WIP novel.

I wasn't really going to post any more snippets of the novel, but I recently had a rather nice request for more, and because I'm a softie, I have relented. Lol. This piece is from Chapter 20, the chapter I am currently writing. However, I actually wrote this back in November, and it's still one of my favorite scenes of the entire project to date. When I went back to reread and decide what to post today, I had to share this one. And honestly, seriously... I don't remember writing this AT ALL! Ha! ... View Post

Writing Prompt Wednesday: 2 paragraphs from page 7!

Yes, today, I am being "lazy".  Lazy in that I don't want this particular post to take up too much time, because I've only made my 1000 word/day goal about two days out of fifteen this month, and I plan on making it today!  So. I happened to be tagged on Facebook by another author friend (Lisa Kumar, go check her out!) to post two paragraphs from page 7 of my current WIP yesterday, therefore, I've decided those two paragraphs will also be the stars of today's WPW!  :) So, without further ado, ...
