Bait, Fish, and Reel Report for May 2013

Holy moley May was a craaaaazzzyyy month!  I'm not even sure I can untangle all these numbers, but I'll try my best! .... Someone once said that to be a successful and productive writer, one had to do the equivalent of “cutting bait, fishing, and reeling ‘em in, all at the same time”!  This translates to writing as working on projects-in-progress while at the same time submitting completed projects to potential markets and also continuing to cultivate new ideas for future projects.  In case you ... Project List for May 2013

I love May.  May is my favorite month.  It brings back so many wonderful memories, going back to all the school years that ended in May, and all the summers that began in May.  Not only this, but for those of you who may not know, I met my husband in May.  May 1999, in line for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.  Yup, that's right.  He lined up for five days at the theater and I lined up for three (would have been five, but I had to finish making my Queen Amidala's red throne room dress first!)... ... Bait, Fish, and Reel Report for April 2013

Someone once said that to be a successful and productive writer, one had to do the equivalent of "cutting bait, fishing, and reeling 'em in, all at the same time"! This translates to writing as working on projects-in-progress while at the same time submitting completed projects to potential markets and also continuing to cultivate new ideas for future projects. In case you missed my previous post on this subject, at the end of every month I compile a list of what I accomplished as far as ... View Post

Project List for April 2013

*trying not to panic*breathe...breathe* Write 30,ooo words for Camp NaNo (you will notice I dropped it another 10k words - that is because I am both drastically behind at this moment and because there are actually other items that need to be accomplished this month as well... see below!) (Hrm... haven't hit 5000 words yet... think I'm in trouble! :P 4.24.13) (Well, I wrote 5750 words total... meh. 4.30.13) Submit short story to Writer's Digest Annual Writing Competition, Early-Bird Deadline ... "Cutting bait, fishing, and reeling 'em in, all at the same time!"

That's what someone said about what you have to do to make a living as a writer, although just precisely who said it is escaping me at the moment.  When I remember, or if you know, please help jog my memory in the comments!  It refers to having to write projects, edit projects, and submit projects all at the same time, so that you're not wasting precious time sitting around on your hands doing nothing productive.  (Okay, let me rephrase, "doing nothing productive on your writing"... we all know ... Project List for March 2013

To help keep my thoughts in order these next few weeks, as we fast approach Camp NaNo (at reckless speed, really!), I decided to go ahead and track what I plan to get done for the rest of the month here, and cross items off the list as I go along.  So, let's see, my "Ta-Da List" for the rest of March (and it will surely be TA DA if I manage to get it all done!): Choose, prepare, edit, and submit five poems to The Animal Literary Magazine (it ended up being three poems, because the others ...
