Late Friday Night Special: Guest Haikus!

For something totally random and different, please enjoy these three amazing haikus, each revolving around a short story (which makes them way more awesome than a regular haiku, of course!), whipped up over lunch by another of my writer friends - Rod Galindo: Can you guess which short story of mine these haikus refer to??  ;) *** A new body waits, Transfer: unpredictable, Doc, where am I now? *** Werewolves on my heels Yes, nice day for a parade Lily, I love you *** And this one is ... Bait, Fish, and Reel Report for May 2013

Holy moley May was a craaaaazzzyyy month!  I'm not even sure I can untangle all these numbers, but I'll try my best! .... Someone once said that to be a successful and productive writer, one had to do the equivalent of “cutting bait, fishing, and reeling ‘em in, all at the same time”!  This translates to writing as working on projects-in-progress while at the same time submitting completed projects to potential markets and also continuing to cultivate new ideas for future projects.  In case you ... 1-800-BETS… ON?! How writing for publication is like gambling.

This post is about gambling.  But not the conventional type of gambling... there are no casinos or sports or races in this type of gambling (okay, well maybe you could call parts of it "racing"...!?).  THIS particular type of gambling refers to the gamble every individual who calls themselves a writer takes every time they send out something in the hopes of seeing it published somewhere. And recently I have come to the determination that if a person wishes to succeed in any way as a writer ... View Post

Project List for April 2013

*trying not to panic*breathe...breathe* Write 30,ooo words for Camp NaNo (you will notice I dropped it another 10k words - that is because I am both drastically behind at this moment and because there are actually other items that need to be accomplished this month as well... see below!) (Hrm... haven't hit 5000 words yet... think I'm in trouble! :P 4.24.13) (Well, I wrote 5750 words total... meh. 4.30.13) Submit short story to Writer's Digest Annual Writing Competition, Early-Bird Deadline ... Submission #1 – Living the Vision

Well... it's done. Today, I submitted my first short story, "In Morte, Omnia" to my first professional market, Clarksworld Magazine.  This process took weeks,  I don't even know how long anymore, I'll have to look it up in my Writing Journal!  Five drafts total, four wonderful betas, 3200 words (rounded up to the nearest hundred).  Every spare moment of many days spent researching possible literary markets, only to then remember the SFWA and find a whole new list of membership-qualifying ...
