Project List for February 2015

First of all, I actually managed to accomplish everything on my Project List for January!  I have to admit I'm feeling very proud of myself, especially for waking up consistently at 5am on 4 out of 7 days of the week to write.  Now that I've realized how amazing that can be for forward-progress and the good of my psyche, I'm going to continue for sure! After finishing the rough draft of my 143+k word novel last month, I had originally planned to take February off to relax, get in some video ... View Post

It's a New Year and if you saw my last post, you know I have a lot I want to accomplish! So to begin, here are the January goals: Complete rough draft of Primus (formerly The Good Thing). (I DID IT!!!!! Wrote THE END on the rough draft on 1.26.15!!  First original work I've finished in 17 years! HOORAY!) Submit flash fiction "Gray" to next market. Writing Goals for 2015

And so begins the flood of "New Year's Resolutions" posts and tweets and status updates, etc, etc! But this year, I do not have resolutions.  I have GOALS. And I'm going to try to be realistic with these goals, so as to not 1) discourage myself and 2) overwhelm myself. The psyche is a fragile thing, indeed. I survived my third year of National Novel Writing Month - barely.  I then meditated on the question, "What am I doing?  Is this worth it?  Is this what I want to continue doing?" In the ... NaNoWriMo The Third Was NOT The Charm: How I Survived My 3rd Year of November Noveling Madness

All righty. Here goes. The long-awaited NaNoWriMo 2014 recap post!  Nearly a month later, I think I'm recovered enough to tackle this, and I think I've had enough reflection time to determine what I need to improve upon next year. So, my dear fellow writerly people ... if you have accomplished NaNoWriMo yourselves, please do chime in with your comments on your own experiences.  And if you have not NaNo-ed before, but are considering doing so next year, please take my experiences here ... Project List for December 2014: REVISED EDITION

"Wait wait," you may say, "you dropped off the face of the planet for a month only to reappear here and post a December Project List as if nothing had happened?!  What's the deal?  What about NaNoWriMo and all that Boot Camp business?  WHAT IS GOING ON!?" Well, those are all very valid observations and questions. And there was certainly a great deal happening during November, which is why I dropped off the face of the blogosphere. I have now returned, but am so exhausted it's going to take a ... View Post

How "Following Your Dreams", or Doing What You LOVE in Life, is Like Running a Half-Marathon! (but not like running a full marathon, because I've never done that … that would just be crazy!)

A funny thing happened to me yesterday. I was told by a very lovely person (Zenobia Southcombe, to be precise - please do head over and check out her site!) that my "enthusiasm is so catchy"! This was very flattering, for two reasons. 1) I haven't actually felt all that enthusiastic about my life pursuits recently, so I was happy to know I hadn't outwardly let that bring me down all that much and 2) I'd actually been clinging to HER enthusiasm for HER life pursuits the last several days in an ...
