The Pineapple Incident: Why I Didn't Hate the HIMYM Series Finale (and yes, it actually relates to writing!)

We all have our areas of expertise. An avid golfer will notice when another golfer pulled his head or some such on a swing, and will be able to accurately predict that ball will shank left or right as a result. An Army Captain will shake his or her head whilst watching the latest military flick and comment about how the uniforms are all wrong. An equestrian will grimace watching some actors and actresses ride horses, seeing that their posture and balance are terrible. A film student will be ... View Post

Writing Prompt Wednesday: A snippet from Chapter 20 of "The Good Thing", the WIP novel.

So I worked on the novel seriously today for the first time since about the end of February. Wrote about 1100 words in one sitting. I think that's the most I've written at once since the end of NaNoWriMo in November! Yikes. But to celebrate, I present to you a piece of Chapter 20, a chapter I've been working on since the end of February as well, and have FINALLY, finally finished! HOORAY! As usual, please keep in mind this is unedited, and names of organizations are merely placeholders and ... View Post

Bait, Fish, and Reel Report for March 2014

Someone once said that to be a successful and productive writer, one had to do the equivalent of “cutting bait, fishing, and reeling ‘em in, all at the same time”! This translates to writing as working on projects-in-progress while at the same time submitting completed projects to potential markets and also continuing to cultivate new ideas for future projects. Writing Prompt Wednesday: "Choose", an original haiku.

Two realities lie between, one awake and one a dream. Now choose. *** This haiku was inspired partially by the Doctor Who episode "Amy's Choice" (5.7), although the concept has been one that the hubby and I periodically discuss at length. ;) - JRF ... View Post

The Writing Process Blog Hop!

Well at long, long last, it is time for me to fulfill my duty in participating in and passing along this wonderful and superbly interesting Writing Process Blog Hop! The incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining Jumping From Cliffs was kind enough to tag me as one of his four writers, so here I go! The rules are as follows: I have to answer 4 questions, then tag 4 other brilliant bloggers to carry on the torch. And that's it! So. To the questions! 1) What are you working on? My main ... Writing Prompt Wednesday: "Spring", an original haiku.

Beating in the blood Spring, we hear it sing, and then Plant, play, clean, create *** Seemed fitting, given the weather around here lately. SPRING IS ALMOST HEEERRRREEE!  ;) What are YOU excited to do come spring?? - JRF ... View Post
