Well! Nothing like a good ol’ fashioned blog hop to force me out of my blogging hermit-hole!
I have been tagged by the wonderful Jumping From Cliffs to participate in this thingy here, and this is how it works: The idea is I post the first line of the first three chapters of my current work-in-progress, then nominate four other bloggers to do the same.
To follow in the tradition set forth by JFC and a few of the authors who were tagged before him, I am including the first line of my prologue as well as the first lines of my first three chapters. Granted, the prologue will probably not make it to the final published version of this novel, but I’m including it because … I can. 😉
These lines come from my current novel project, working title of The Good Thing. It is something like a dystopian sci-fi thriller with a side of love story, and the short back cover blurb would go something like this: Pavel and Amy Sokolov have been approved by the World Population Registry for the great honor of parenthood. Reluctantly leaving their home city of Una Primus, they travel to the community of Una Duo for their First Selection – the ritualistic process of choosing the man and woman who will bear their first child. When Pavel and Amy select a Progenitor named Vince Dannel as their child’s sire, the decision sets off a chain reaction that will lead Pavel down a long and twisted path to the truth about his orderly society.
Fighting the forces of a global government, members of an underground organization sworn to keep secrets hidden, and deeply held prejudices against each other, Pavel and Vince embark on an impossible quest that will force each to question not only their own personal convictions about their civilization as they know it, but ultimately determine if the world once more returns to war …
Prologue
The rain poured down in sheets, nearly drowning them as they ran.
Chapter One
“People do this all the time, remember,” Pavel Sokolov said, looking from the road ahead over to his wife, who sat drawn and pale in the passenger seat beside him.
Chapter Two
Nine hours on his feet watching those idiot choosers gawk and point and whisper and he’d been ready to shatter that glassifilm wall right in their faces.
Chapter Three
Pavel stood on the balcony of their downtown apartment and let the warm nightly breeze wash away the memories of Vince Dannel’s glare.
I now nominate:
… and I’d love to tag one more, but all the other writers I can think of have 1) already done this themselves or 2) DON’T HAVE BLOGS or 3) really don’t me and have better things to do than do what some random blogger tags them in. Don’t worry, I’ll give the ones who don’t have blogs a hard time ….

Well hooray! That is very good to hear! Definitely what I’m aiming for! 😉
Zee says
Yeah definitely interested. Do you have a mailing list? I’d love to read it once it’s published.
jrfrontera says
You know I do not have a mailing list! But it has been on my mind recently … especially in light of this weekend’s conference where they advised authors to have one. Heheh. So maybe some day in the future! For now though if you just check in on the blog every now and then you’ll know about where it stands. Which is not finished, still. 🙁 Getting it wrapped up is this year’s NaNo goal! 😀

Sweet, I’m following your blog anyway. Let me know if / when you do tho.

Awww thanks! That’s so sweet! 😀 Likewise, I’m keeping up with you, because you are awesome! 😉 If I ever get a list going, I will be sure to announce it!
