Who’s going to Planet Comicon, Kansas City?

Cuz I sure am!

Planet Comic Con KC

That’s right! The first local convention of the season fast approacheth, and it is … Planet Comicon! Planet (or PCC) is first in a line up of three shows I’ll be attending this year. And, as a very first for me, this year I’ll actually be moderating three writing-related panels!

I will be moderating 2 of my 3 pitched ideas which were accepted (the 3rd was well received, but couldn’t fit on the schedule), and 1 panel which was not my idea at all, but the Programming Director asked if I would oblige, and how could I refuse? My current Planet schedule now looks like this:

  • FRIDAY APRIL 28 2017 – I FINISHED MY NOVEL … NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?
    5:30pm – 6:30pm ROOM 2105

So you’ve accomplished the dream of finally completing that novel … but now you have no idea what to do next! Authors J. R. Frontera, Alex Grecian, James Young, Jason Arnett, and Ellie Ann discuss the necessary next steps in getting your first draft to a finished, polished and publishable (or salable) book.
  • SATURDAY APRIL 29 2017 – GOING INDIE: SELF-PUBLISHING YOUR BOOKS: THE PROS, CONS, AND HOW TO
    2:30-3:30pm ROOM 2104
Indie authors and owners of Wordwraith Books, J. R. Frontera and Kristin Helling, along with their fellow indie authors James Young, Alex Grecian, Anita Young, and Jason Arnett, go through the pros and cons of self-publishing your work to help you determine if going indie might be right for you. If you’ve been considering self-publishing, but aren’t sure where to start, they’ll also go through the process from start to finish: formatting your book, getting covers, uploading to Amazon and other online retailers, and more. Includes take-home resource guide.
  • SUNDAY APRIL 30 – WRITING GREAT CHARACTERS
    12:00-1:00pm ROOM 2101

Writers discuss the inner workings of the characters they craft in their novels. How do you find the right voice for your character? Where does inspiration end and originality begin? If you’ve got a story to write, there’s no better place to start than by learning from accomplished purveyors of words: J. R. Frontera, Ellie Ann, Alex Grecian, Anita Young, and Carole Barrowman.

Aside from the robust celebrity line up this year and my own informational and inspirational panels, my super awesome pals over at Nerd for a Living will be at this show as well, and they have a huge line up of great panels with great people, too, so there are a lot of reasons right now for you to come to this convention! (Also you want to see my new cosplay, right!?)

Do it! You know you want to!

You can find tickets over at www.planetcomicon.com … BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!
