You know, I wasn’t going to make a post today. I was going to rebel against myself. Hunched over my computer all day for the day-job, my shoulders and neck were tense and knotted, my eyes burning from focusing on text too long. I was doing some eye-exercises to try and help relax them, looking out my window at the clouds and blue sky, and felt the tension start to ease… and then this began unfurling in my head, and I thought I should write it down. We could all use the reminder now and then, yes? 🙂 – JRF

Stop.
Look.
See.
Reach out and touch, feel.
Take a breath and breathe, smell.
Stop and lift your head, listen.
Hear.
Stop.
Shut up for one second.
Put down your phone, unplug.
Push away from your computer, stand.
Stop.
Breathe.
Take a step, balance.
Feel.
Listen to your heart inside, thump-thump.
Thump-thump.
Breathe.
Look.
See.
Smell.
Touch.
Notice.
Walk out into the world, live.
Begin.

As a fellow writer and someone with a literary blog, I love that you took the challenge of beginning an original piece. And the poem itself is very nice. I love the free-flow form of it. Great start.

Hi there! Thanks for reading and commenting and I’m very glad you enjoyed the poem! Unfortunately I have a hard time forcing poems out, lol. With the novel, not so hard… but poems are a different animal for me. Luckily this one made itself known right in the nick of time. Haha. Anyway, thanks again for stopping by! Your blog looks great as well and I look forward to following it! 😉
