Writing Prompt Wednesday: Defining "Loblolly"

WOTDloblolly

Something a little different this week!  This started as purely for random fun, when a friend of mine (agirlwhowrites, in fact) posted the Word of the Day on her Facebook page and offered Life Points for anyone who could come up with the best sentence using that word.  At first, I wasn’t going to attempt it.  But when no one else seemed to seriously rise to challenge, I thought, “Well, why not give it a whirl?”  In the end, I had so much fun coming up with a sentence for each definition of the word I decided to make this a semi-regular challenge/prompt item, and thus the “Word of the Day Prompt” was born!  This is the first of many to come.  My sentences are listed below (I MAY have had a little too much fun formatting them and all…)

If you come up with some of your own, I’d love to see what you have!  Please post them in the comments!

And you might just get some Life Points, too, if you’re good enough…. 😉

Loblolly2

Loblolly3

Loblolly4

Now get on it, you scallywags, and earn those Life Points!

She turned the corner in the trail, reveling in the early spring Georgia warmth, and there ahead was a huge black bear watching her two small cubs, scampering around the loblolly pines.

He removed the lid from the stew, and inhaled deeply the scent of the beef and vegetables enhanced with loblolly bay.

The two boys ran as fast as they could from the big dog, regretting ever throwing the rocks. It was gaining on them, and Rob looked over his shoulder just as his feet sunk in the loblolly and he fell to his knees.

Russel regretted the visit to his grandparents as he looked at the disgusting loblolly his grandmother dished up for breakfast.
